As dawn crept in, Adam emerged from his shower refreshed, every droplet from his black hair glistening in the soft morning light.
After a quick breakfast, Adam prepared to leave for school. His mother, Rachel, a warm woman with a nurturing, watchful gaze, appeared in the doorway and reminded him of their conversation the previous night.
"Adam, remember our talk? You promised you wouldn't come back"
Adam nodded, maintaining a serious demeanor. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll head to Leo house after school." He reassured her, a hint of warmth breaking through his otherwise stoic exterior.
Rachel smiled, visibly pleased. "Good. Be safe, Adam." She waved him off as he walked towards the door, slipping into his mysterious, calm persona as he left.
Outside, Adam was soon greeted by Leo, a close friend who was always eager to delve into the details of Adam's day. Spotting Adam, Leo's eyes sparkled with curiosity as he approached.
"Hey, how was yesterday? Anything exciting?"
Adam's mind flashed to Ani. The memory stirred a faint smile on his lips, a rare expression for someone so often cloaked in reserve. He began sharing some pieces of his encounter with Ani, his tone relaxed yet reflective. Leo listened intently, each word drawing him in as if it were a story.
As they strolled along, a familiar voice called out, breaking their conversation. Leo's girlfriend, Susan, joined them, and the three continued toward the train station. They moved with an easy rhythm, laughter punctuating their steps, a stark contrast to the complex emotions simmering under Adam's calm exterior.
Suddenly, Adam heard a distinct voice in his ear: Pratham, his digital assistant—a sophisticated AI embedded discreetly in his ear, only audible to him.
"Lord Adam, Ani has already left her house. My calculations indicate she'll arrive at the station soon. You should hurry."
