Chapter 9: Conversations and Unspoken Feelings
The train station was bustling with students, adults, and the usual commuters rushing in all directions.
Adam and Ani made their way through the crowd, exchanging subtle glances filled with tension and curiosity.
As they boarded the train, Ani took a seat by the window, watching the city roll past, and looked up at Adam, who was still standing uncertainly.
With a slight smile, she gestured for him to sit beside her.
Adam's heart pounded as he tried to keep his composure. Her casual invitation seemed to electrify the air between them.
He took a deep breath, fighting the urge to fidget as he took the seat next to her. He felt Ani's gaze settle on him.
"Hey," Ani started, leaning in slightly, "I noticed you've been dozing off in class a lot lately. What's going on?"
Adam forced a laugh, running a hand through his hair. 'What can I even tell her? ' he thought, knowing his late nights were actually spent immersed in online games.
Just as he was about to stumble through a half-truth, a soft voice echoed in his ear.
"My lord, simply tell her you stay up reading mystery-thriller books," Pratham advised him, his tone as steady and reassuring as ever.
Taking Pratham's advice, Adam managed a small, awkward smile and replied, "Actually... I stay up reading mystery-thriller books. It's kind of hard to put them down."
