Chapter 119: Vampire politics
Things didn’t go well for Violet; she was struggling to sleep. And as a consequence, so was Ash.
They’d spent the rest of the night packing in a necessary silence. Ash was reeling how to approach the subject with Violet being so unstable right now. Violet was struggling to wrap her mind around what she learned, what it all could mean.
Silence was the only thing both could offer the other. Silence to process, silence to think, silence to breath. The weight of Arya’s words felt heavy, casting a shadow on the happy couple. They both tossed and turned all day waiting for the sun’s rays to rest for the day for them to leave for their flight. It would be Violet’s first flight, just to add the icing on the anxiety cake.
Ash thought about how if they never asked Arya to do this, then none of this would be happening.
Violet of course could hear his loud thoughts, "Ash, the prophecy would happen whether we heard it not, it’s better we heard it so we can plan for it."
"You’re right, Violet." Ash concluded. "Let’s focus on the coronation, after that we can deal with the details of the prophecy."
Everything faded into the background once the family boarded the plane.
This would be Rosa’s first time on a plane leaving America. Night citizens didn’t need human passports to travel, they had their own system for keeping track of travel. Royals weren’t privy to the same rules everyone else was, they had their own set of rules and expectation.
The brothers took the time to give Violet a crash course in vampire politics. He tried to include Rosa, but she was looking a little greener than her usual bronzed tan right now, and thought it best to not have her ruin the planes upholstery
Gabriel went first; he was the most acquainted with vampire politics. "Violet, understand one thing. Vampires will smell weakness and exploit it, so be on your guard."
Violet quickly responded with something unexpected "I have mind control Gabriel if they’re mean to me, I can just compel them to be nice."
