Chapter 45: Can I Kiss You?
Lethia gasped when Caelum suddenly kissed her. Her eyes flew wide open. She hadn’t expected him to kiss her just like that.
His sweet and gentle demeanor had made her forget he was still a Tuffin beast—one who could easily be swept away by the mysterious pheromone scent on her skin.
Caelum’s thin lips brushed over hers with a soft, lingering pressure. Even though the kiss felt like a gentle pull—almost like a soft sucking—he didn’t try to part her lips or deepen it. Both of his hands gripped her jaw and nape as if he wanted to fuse their faces together.
That kiss... it was laced with longing, aching, and buried affection.
Lethia’s heart was pounding out of rhythm, and some lewd instinct in her wanted to part her lips for him—but thankfully, her common sense still held. Her hands reached behind to pat his shoulder repeatedly, a quiet signal for him to stop.
He pulled away. His eyes slowly fluttered open, and something about the way those sage-green eyes looked at her from up close made her chest soften. She could see her own reflection in the dilated pupils of his gaze. ’Is that how someone looks at the one they cherish?’
Caelum smiled. "I won’t be sorry for that kiss. Because that’ll be the last time I kiss you like that. Next time, I’ll make sure you’re the one who asks me to do it."
His thumb brushed across her lips, and Lethia instinctively pressed them shut and pulled herself away from him.
"You..." Lethia glared at him, fists tightening around the bedsheet beneath her.
Caelum smirked. "Alright... alright... slap me if you must. But still, I won’t be sorry," he added, angling his cheek her way, like he was offering it up for a well-deserved slap.
And how could she slap that porcelain face? Not only was Lethia aware it’d be such a waste to leave a mark on an actor’s face, but how could she slap someone who had just moved her to tears by bringing back the most precious memory of her childhood with her father?
