Possessed Wolfless: From Rejected to Vengeful Lycans' Queen

Chapter 19: The Bonds

Renar knew it was a lame question, an overused cliché that sound like a statement, this woman effortlessly drove his desire into madness.

His breath came in ragged pulls, his body seized by a hunger he couldn't control. Every inhale dragged in the intoxicating scent of sweet thick honey clinging to her skin, stirring something primal inside him.

He might have understood if it had only lingered while they were in the same room earlier. But even after he left her ward, the scent refused to leave him.

Even in the presence of other patients, it remained like a phantom scent haunting him. It had gotten so bad that he'd absentmindedly called his patient by her name.

The more he resisted, the worse it became. The ache clawed at his sanity, the very air thick with her presence.

And what unsettled him the most was the fact that he felt this relentless pull despite still being under the effects of the Unbonding Pill.

The pill was designed to sever the bond between mates. To stop them from spiraling into obsession. To keep them from losing themselves in madness.

Most importantly, to have allowed Lycans to focus on mastering their powers without their mate becoming a dangerous distraction.

The pill was a necessity because Lycans weren't just wolves. They could shift whenever they wanted, not just under the full moon, nor did they house a separate wolf inside them.

Their beast and human mind were one, making them infinitely more dangerous. When they lost control, it wasn't a wolf taking over—it was their very nature breaking free.

Renar couldn't let that happen.
