Steampunk Era: Mad Abield

Chapter 1081: Section 679: Who Knows (4)_2

If there were really assassins, then no one could be sure if there were also hidden assistants near the carriage. With her child, Faye couldn’t take any risks, so she flashed back with her child, noticing the inorganic look in the assassin’s eyes when the assassin missed the first strike.

She also felt the chaotic flow approaching from the side.

She turned her head and saw the arrow already closing in, and as a mage, Mowish’s second daughter calculated its trajectory first - it would hit the child in her arms as it turned.

This discovery prompted Faye to immediately activate the Petrification Spell on herself; there was no time to use a spell formation to deal with this magic arrow. The young mother turned sideways, intending to block the arrow’s trajectory with her body - Faye understood that doing so might result in her death, but not doing so would surely lead to the child’s death.

Then a gunshot sounded.

Faye turned and saw the old man with the gun pointed at her... no, not at her, but at the arrow behind her.

The Church’s guards had already mobilized; their target wasn’t her – it could only be the assassins.

With this realization, Faye patted a Stone Skin Spell on her child, then grabbed the incoming longsword with her spellcasting right hand. The longsword, which was meant to break magic, cut through her right arm in an instant, but it still delayed the sword’s speed, ultimately lodging in Faye’s severed arm.

The next second, Faye lifted her foot and kicked the assassin in front of her directly towards her carriage.
