Chapter 928: Section 611: Spring Arrives (Part 2)
Pushing open the rotten doors, Anna looked at the hall before her, the long-abandoned academy where her mentor had started his career, in the southern province of the Eastern Kingdom.
It is said that nearly a century has passed since then.
In that era, the Archbishop of the Eastern Kingdom was an apprentice of the Goddess of Harvest, and it was also the time when what was called the artistic renaissance began, with a host of remarkable scholars and Proxies springing up like grass after rain upon these plains.
Unfortunately, the majority of that generation of elders were seduced by Chaos, either dragged into hell by their own powers or lured away by external temptations, with only a handful of apprentices surviving the catastrophe.
The existence of the mentor was known to Chaos, and Evil Gods began to target him as their objective and stepping stone. The mentor never told his apprentices, who he took in during his later years, how he managed to escape from the pursuit of Chaos. From then on, the mentor no longer prioritized talent, but instead selected children who passed a test of their spirits.
Knowledge has become a thing with a price, I had no choice.
A light flickered in Anna’s hand, as she thought about the words her mentor often said, while glancing at her Head Maid, Lena, who did not go towards the wall lamp but instead pressed the switch on the wall.
"The lamp is broken." The lamp that did not light up made her peer sigh.
"Time is the only fair thing in this era. People die, objects deteriorate, the miracles before the Great Destruction slowly turn into relics." As Anna cast light upon that lamp, she heard a noise, and looking towards the direction the sound came from, she saw a zombie emerging from the darkness.
