Steampunk Era: Mad Abield

Chapter 751: Section 514: Fun Amidst Serious Matters (Part 1)

Malin had long been aware of Northerner ideology, and while the version he knew differed somewhat, he considered that accomplishing so much for a fledgling cause was no small feat, aware that both the Northern royal family and the Nobles were suppressing the ideology overtly and covertly.

He wasn’t surprised by this, as some aspects of Northerner ideology were fundamentally undermining the very foundation of the Nobility and the Royals.

Therefore, it was only natural for it to be suppressed.

Malin even thought to himself that although the King of Manheim and his Nobles looked down upon each other, when faced with such treacherous officials and rebels, how could they not join forces against them?

Then again, he considered the possibility that the Nobles might want to use Northerner ideology as a means to carry out their dirty work; put nicely, it was a game of deceit; put bluntly, it was making use of others to do their killing.

After all, the first to be undermined by Northerner ideology was the royal family, and compared to the King, perhaps the Nobles were much less constrained.

It was also possible that some Nobles were involved in the Northerner cause, even holding significant influence, which Malin realized when he saw the Svenson twins.

This interweaving of Northerner ideology and Nobility was like a forgotten song of bygone days sharing its innermost feelings—the thing about ideologies, as Malin saw it, was that there was never a middle ground to tread; without a sound explanation, he wouldn’t consider aligning with them.

Of course, now wasn’t the time for him to share his own views, so after exchanging warm greetings with the three men, he smoothly asked why the two Svenson siblings were there.

After all, Malin had indeed seen them at a previous royal banquet, and the young men made no attempt to hide it, openly admitting their intent—to kill the King.

"Why would you do such a thing? If I’m not mistaken, the Svenson family is related by blood to the Manheim royal family, and even his youngest son is your nephew, who should call you ’uncle’ upon seeing you," Malin inquired.
