Steampunk Era: Mad Abield

Chapter 729: Section 503: Wisdom is the Most Dangerous Weapon in Human Hands (Part One)

After making sure the girls were asleep, Malin went to check on his father, who had already gone to bed. Despite becoming Legendary, his foundations were still too fragile—before this, he had given up the search for the truth and let Fate and Sequence push him into a dead end.

His body had been thoroughly harmed and destroyed, and even though he had achieved Legendary status, he couldn’t possibly be as powerful as a normal Legendary. Malin didn’t even want to compete with his father anymore, because the power between them had completely reversed.

When he returned to his own room, Malin stood by the window for a while.

In Carterburg’s winter, as in years past, Malin saw armed young vigilantes patrolling the streets amid the midnight snowstorm. The police had shifted their attention beyond the second wall, and in the original town area, it was these vigilante groups formed of descendants of Nobles and gentlemen who were responsible for safety.

This was no easy task. When Malin spoke with the mayor about it, he didn’t count on getting the Nobles and wealthy gentlemen to contribute men; instead, he wanted the assault teams from his own factory guard to handle it so they could maintain sufficient vigilance.

But what he hadn’t expected was that, after seeing the combat capabilities of the young men in Malin’s possession, the Nobles and gentlemen volunteered their children to join.

Since they had a need, Malin of course obliged, with each party benefiting from the exchange.

Bippo and Milani were sleeping in the arms of Clovis, the third Snow Leopard Trisik, who was lying in front of the fireplace and naturally didn’t need to worry about freezing.

Salis was perched on the bird stand, squeezing the poor old parrot until it shivered like a quail.
