Chapter 602 - 418: New Dawn (Part 1)
"Was the idea of wearing rings from Anthony?" Logan asked doubtfully.
"Of course, as the head of a household, Anthony putting on a ring for himself and then for his bride, I see no problem with that," Malin declared with complete confidence, speaking as if everything had been arranged beforehand.
"Is this a new way of putting on rings, or is this the trend in the southern countries? I remember that in the northern countries, the bride and groom usually put rings on each other," the Night Watcher’s secretary Lulu asked, full of confusion.
"This is a brand-new way, also the first time in the south. Trust me, as the head of a household, he has the right to do this, and Miss Ranni seems quite happy with it, doesn’t she?" Facing the ethnologist, Malin smiled slightly, subtly shifting the topic to the newlyweds’ blissful life to make the secretary hold her tongue, also using a tactic: "What do you think? When you get married, would you prefer this way, or the way of the North? I believe anticipation is also a virtue."
"Malin, I had no idea you could lie with such a straight face," Faye and Nova appeared before Malin like predators, after Lulu left flushed with an excuse.
"What else could I do, Anthony that fool acted on impulse like that, what could I have done? Should I tell that fool to take off the ring and put it on the bride? That would certainly become the most universally mocked joke of the year in the entire Farole noble circle, maybe even in the northern countries, bringing laughter and joy to nobles, commoners, merchants, and beggars alike," Malin said, looking troubled, as though all he had said was in defense of Anthony.
"Even so, weren’t you a bit too outrageous? Even if Logan can’t know, Lulu can’t either?" Nova asked, full of confusion.
"She’s not my wife, but you are, silly girl," Malin retorted, using a Thainan phrase at the end.
"Stupid girl, I do have a Thainan cook!" Nova raged, then rose up in arms—she picked up Fio and used it to hit Malin on the head.
"It’s a term of endearment, a term of endearment," Malin defended himself wearily, feeling that Fio hitting him was almost like a blessing.
Is this "familiarity breeds contempt" or "tough love"?
