When Malin hurried back to the Church, a team from the Mage Tower was already waiting in the hall, led by Clovis’s stepfather, whose standing locally in the Mage Tower had risen due to Clovis’s influence. He was now the commander of the second action team and had relayed the task to Lady Anna— the vetting work for the reclaimed area in the northern district of Farol.
Malin would only know the specifics once he got there. There were already troops in place, and according to Lady Anna, it was originally her responsibility, but she couldn’t be bothered to talk nonsense with those naive countryside Nobles and had her son-in-law come to lend a hand instead.
Malin said that only Lady Anna could say such a thing with a straight face. Even the high Nobles of the kingdom could only respond with a bitter smile and a shrug if a Legendary combat Mage spoke in such a manner—provided their power was insufficient.
However, with Lady Anna’s guarantee, Malin knew that both the Mage Tower and the Farol Principality’s troops would listen to him, which made things much easier.
Lady Anna probably wanted to see how the Gaiate family’s Malin would manage matters. Considering that, there was nothing more to say.
Upon stepping through the portal, the first person Malin saw was Galileo del Brunie, who smiled and nodded at Malin: "I trust you’ve been well, young Mr. Malin."
"I’ve been well, Mr. Brunie. What about your Apprentices?"
"It’s fine for the young ones to witness a battlefield, but they’re still too young to be dealing with Noble intrigues and trickeries. So, I only brought myself."
The old man explained with a smile and extended his hand to introduce two men beside him: "Baron Anthony and Baron Brent Tony."
"Greetings, Baron Anthony. It looks like we’re working together again," Malin said with a smile, extending his hand.
