Steampunk Era: Mad Abield

Chapter 376 - 253: Ordinary (Part 2)_2

"At least we don’t have to worry about this rug for the next five days, now that someone is watching it every moment, and its own consciousness has been dormant since that Legendary being opened the portal. It seems the pattern is also a bully to the just and a coward to the cruel," the Minister’s words were one of the few pieces of good news, as Zem and he exited the area to begin inspecting the containment rooms, one by one.

In the first containment room, the doll that had always been seated on an extremely ornate chair was now huddled in the corner, seemingly trying its best to stay as far from the portal as possible. Yet its craving for the gorgeous chair compelled it not to stray too far, making the corner the most suitable option.

"It seems she is afraid of the mechanical contraption of the portal." This doll, known as the Greedy Doll, was an extremely dangerous toy. No one knew how it came to be, only that it harbored a frightening possessiveness for the most ornate object it saw. Anyone who looked at it had to wear a mask, or they would risk a bloody incident—like her fancying parts of your face, and then she would control you to gouge or slice them off.

Currently, her favorite was the chair crafted by over a dozen elven masters; the velvet cushion, beautiful jewels, the Phoebe zhennan wood from Thainan and pure jade armrests were all presented by Thainan’s Transcendents after they heard about its existence. This type of wood was unique in the entire Western Human World, present only in this chair.

"After all, mechanical beings are not afraid of her mental control," the Minister laughed, "Let’s move on."—This dangerous curiosity didn’t need anyone to take care of it; as long as the chair was there, it would be safe.

In the second room lay a dagger on a cushion, motionless.

This was a troublesome relic—a Sentient Dagger.

It had an abnormal thirst for blood; any unfortunate soul’s blood would do. As long as it was fed blood, it would be content for a while. If not satisfied within a certain period (usually 48 hours), it would take control of a person to wield it and begin self-harm.

Because of its extreme sharpness, capable of harming even Chaos and Spiritual Bodies, sometimes combatants would use it. It could be somewhat useful but required careful control.

Though it rarely caused death, it still was a nuisance. But ever since the portal opened, it instantly became as docile as an ordinary knife while it quenched its thirst for blood in the basin.
