Chapter 246: No way out
Azuna’s palm pressed forward, and the blood-earth chains twisted with a mind of their own, more jutting out of the ground and finding their target. They coiled tighter and erupted in violent crimson thorns that pierced through the wyrm’s wings and wrapped around its limbs like executioner’s ropes.
The lances struck next. One by one, they slammed into the wyrm’s body, fiery decoys meant to distract and wound. The real one buried itself right into the wyrm’s side, exploding with a thunderous roar that blew away a chunk of its armor-plated flesh. The wyrm bellowed, twisting in agony, completely not expecting an attack of this magnitude.
Blood poured out of its wings, which Damon happily absorbed, not even leaving behind a single lick of it.
At the same time, Azuna whispered something in a tongue lost to time. The blood orb in her hand shot forward towards the wyrm, and even though the wyrm erected a shield to protect itself, it was of no use.
Even as the orb made contact with the fire shield, crimson tendrils seeped out of the blood orb into the shield and then onto the wyrm. The beast roared in confusion. More and more tendrils started seeping inside, and the wyrm was suddenly out of its depth, unsure of what to do about this attack.
Its entire body lit up in flames, and yet the crimson tendrils refused to yield. Threads of crimson light branched out from the core of the orb like a spreading infection, racing through the wyrm’s veins. The orb bloomed inside it.
From the outside, its body began to glow with eerie red fractures, as if it had been shattered from within and barely held together by raw fury. It stumbled, wings jerking erratically as the corruption took hold.
And then the curse struck.
A system notification shimmered in Damon’s vision:
[World Spirit’s Curse applied: Bloodrot – Your target’s regeneration is halted. Defense reduced by 60%. Fire resistance suppressed.]
