SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God

Chapter 203: New traits unlocked

"Fuck, I need to finish that hall upgrade quest and get my noble status updated ASAP!" Damon scowled as he watched Kate and Mark happily teleport away. Kate was especially happy with his misery and stuck her tongue out at him as she disappeared.

Damon could only curse his bad luck and started running at top speed. He opened his system map and saw that he was quite far away at the moment. Even further than where they had come in contact with the metallic fortress. So this was going to be a long trip.

But it was fine. There was an opportunity even in his misfortune. He still hadn’t properly inspected his recently formed mana core and this was as good a opportunity as any to do that. Besides, he could already sniff some beasts nearby. It was a good time to refill his blood archive as well.

Damon quickly busied himself as he first churned his mana and focused inward in the mana flow in his body. His feet were constantly moving over the hellish frozen tundra but mind dove inward, deep into the currents of his body where the real transformation had occurred.

He focused, slowing his breath, and the world around him dimmed. In its place, a translucent model of his body flickered into existence in his inner vision. This was a visualization technique he had learned from an NPC in his last life. It didn’t do anything earth-shattering but it was very helpful for analysis. It was a good tool in the toolkit.

Damon focused and finally got to his mana core. It was at the center of his body pulsing like a miniature sun. He frowned a little as it was smaller than the one from his past life. There were different grades of mana cores. Well, technically pseudo mana cores.

The real mana core formation came later and that was a much bigger process which involved all the elements like his soul, mind, his bloodline and his physical body. Damon had no idea how he was going to tackle that stage. But that was a problem for later. For now he focussed on his current pseudo mana core.

Pseudo mana cores could be classified in three categories. Low-tier cores, mid-tier cores and high-tier cores. In his past life, Damon had barely scraped through with a mid-tier core. It was adequate, functional, but nowhere near the peak. What he saw now, however, was extremely small.

"Did I actually fuck up by making a low-tier core?" Damon pondered as he started probing the core. The next moment his frown deepend. The core was tiny, yes but that was misleading. Inside, it was dense. So dense that he might set the damn thing off into an explosion if he rubbed it the wrong way.

"How the hell am I going to use this freely?" He started sweating when he thought about how brash he had been ever since he had gotten out of that metallic fortress. All this time he had been walking on the edge of a cliff. He could have fallen down at any time.

To handle a mana core like this, he needed his utmost attention. He needed to be careful, meticulous but if he managed to do that again and again, every time he used the core, then his pay out was going to be ridiculous.
