Married For Now

Chapter 299: NOT FOR EVERYONE

Chapter 299: NOT FOR EVERYONE

CHO EUNTAK’s mind about staying child-free hadn’t changed.

It was the same for Baek Jeho.

The two of them had been dating for a long time now, and they never once brought up having a kid because they were content with just the two of them.

And I know being child-free is really the choice for us.

But if Baek Jeho turned out to be Kwon Miho’s biological father, then...

"Of course, Jeho has to take responsibility and provide for the child if he’s the father," Cho Euntak said. He wasn’t sobbing anymore as he had already calmed down. But his voice was hoarse from all the crying he did. "But I’m not confident that I can act like a good stepdad to her. And it sucks since I like children in general. I’m awful for not accepting the child just because she’s the daughter of Jeho’s ex-girlfriend."

"No, you’re not awful for feeling that way, Euntak-ah," Park Sohee said, consoling him while rubbing his back. "Even if you like children in general, you’re not obliged to accept a kid you’ve just met as your own, just because she’s your partner’s daughter. It’s not wrong to put boundaries."

"Make sure to tell Baek Jeho how you truly feel," Hong Sera said firmly while massaging Cho Euntak’s cold hand. "Remember this, Euntak-ah: your feelings are valid."

Ah, that reminded Cho Euntak...

"I wish I could be like you, Sera Noona. You were able to accept someone else’s kid. Unlike you, I’m a monster..."

"You’re not a monster for not liking or wanting to be around someone else’s kid," Hong Sera scolded Cho Euntak. "And don’t compare your situation with mine. I’ve always wanted a kid, that’s why it was easy for me to accept Seowon. Plus, you know that Semin Oppa’s complicated situation, right?"

Ah, yes.

Cho Euntak remembered.

"Euntak-ah, kids are not for you and that’s okay," Hong Sera assured him. "But, knowing you, there’s no way you’ll mistreat the child. You don’t have to think of her as Jeho’s daughter or as your stepdaughter— just look at her as an ordinary child. Don’t pressure yourself into giving yourself a label that you’re not prepared for."

Oh, right.

Cho Euntak had been too focused on being ’stepdad,’ and that scared the hell out of him.

Which was silly because Baek Jeho and Kwon Miho hadn’t taken the paternity test yet.

He was scaring himself for no reason.

"I’m really glad that you’re here for me, Sohee Hyung and Sera Noona," Cho Euntak said, relieved. "Thank you. I mean it."
