Chapter 73: POWER COUPLE
SOHEE enjoyed the shocked look on Choi Namgyu’s face because of his response.
It was true, though.
I wouldn’t have married Kim Heedo if we were both poor. How could I get married when I couldn’t even take care of myself back then?
But he could see how his words could be misinterpreted, and he wasn’t wrong.
"Wow. Now I feel bad for Kim Heedo," Choi Namgyu said, covering his mouth with one hand while grinning as if he hit the jackpot. "His husband only married him for his money."
"Dude, be for real and answer my question earlier," Sohee said, still calm. "Will you marry someone who can’t provide for you and your future family?"
"You’re cold, Park Sohee. Are you saying poor people don’t deserve to get married?"
"Being poor and being unable to be a good provider are two different things," Sohee said, not letting Choi Namgyu twist his words. "My deceased grandfather was poor, but he provided for our family until his last breath. On the other hand, my father was a deadbeat. He didn’t provide for our family and even became an alcoholic. I had to work early for the two of us to survive. That’s the difference I’m talking about."
He wasn’t embarrassed about his past, and he wasn’t bragging either.
I just don’t want people to misunderstand me.
"But, to be honest, don’t get married if you can’t even take care of yourself— you’ll only make your partner suffer. I’m speaking from experience here. I didn’t date when I was poor because I didn’t want to be unfair to my partner."
