Chapter 244: Demonstrate in Action
** Eli **
Eli rummaged through the drawer, contemplating the overflowing supply of clothing at his disposal. The options might be as historically inaccurate as the image filters, but they were all beautiful indeed, each one a different color and style from another. All were laden with shiny ribbons, ornate laces, and sparkly rhinestones.
"I like green on you." He picked a deep emerald green corset at last, trimmed with gold laces and encrusted with intricate patterns of rubies. "We’ll find a gold and black skirt to go with it. Maybe a flare-sleeve chemise too, with white ruffles at the cuffs."
Harper gave him an impressed look as she took the corset from his hand. "I like how tastefully you’re dressing me up in your mind," she remarked. "Let’s see, not sure if they have a fancy chemise like that though ... Would this do?"
She pulled out a creamy white tunic, with simple laces decorating the semi-flare cuffs. Close enough.
"Alright. So the shirt needs to go on first, yes?" Satisfied with her clothing choices, Harper was quick to proceed, pulling the chemise straight over her head. To her disappointment, however, the garment draped in a shapeless poof over her t-shirt, and she twisted around in the multiple layers of clothing a bit clumsily, clearly unsure how to fit a tight bodice on top of everything else.
"I don’t think that’s how you are supposed to put this on," Eli offered with a chuckle. "Didn’t you just point out to me that there’s a changing room inside this booth? Obviously they aren’t expecting you to leave all those layers underneath." He cleared his throat meaningfully before adding, "Especially not the bra — keeping that on would defeat the whole purpose of the corset."
Harper blinked up at him. He could see her brain turning gears before the look in her eyes changed, and the corner of her lips lifted upward.
"Do I hear an offer to help me with that?" she asked, taking a quick step aside into the changing space behind the divider screen.
