Chapter 229: All Yours

Those novels told the truth — it felt different like this indeed, with nothing separating the warmth sizzling between their bodies. As soon as he was in, Harper felt the molten heat instantly filling every inch inside of her, and the brand new sensation made her lift her hips in pure reflex, trying to accommodate him better and bring their connection deeper.
She was wondering if everything felt just as sublime on his side ... when a shudder rippled palpably through Eli’s body, and his hand gripped her hip, stopping her from changing her angle.
"W-Wait," he let out a half enraptured, half anguished groan. "Don’t move. Give me— Give me just a moment ..."
There was a strange shift of tension in his muscles, as if certain parts of him were getting almost nervously tense, while some certain other parts were going unusually lax.
"... What’s wrong?" Harper asked, puzzled over his odd reaction. He always tended to groan the moment he buried himself inside, but not quite in the same way as this. "Is this ... not comfortable for you? If you want me to move back to where I was before—"
He hissed before she could actually do it, and the hand on her hip tightened. "Fuck. No ... You have no idea how impossibly good you feel. Just ... Give me a moment and let me—"
He cursed again under his breath, burying his face into the crook of her neck, and she could feel the thrashing of his heart loud and fast against her own chest.
Wait. He wasn’t saying— He couldn’t have just— That sudden scorching heat she felt earlier couldn’t have been—
Harper’s mouth literally fell open. It wasn’t until she slowly, disbelievingly processed the meaning of such a shock that she found her jaw again, and her expression turned back into a wide smile.
He was losing control for her. Again. Even more so than he did their first night together, even more so than he did the first time she was in this bed. Perhaps he didn’t even know that she had this kind of power over him ... Or perhaps he had always known, but he let her keep it anyway.
