His Naughty Lessons

Chapter 97: Team Building

** Harper **

The meeting, as it turned out, was about the trip to Hawaii. Which wasn’t surprising in and of itself, but as the details unfolded ... Harper felt the need to write down a long list of questions that she had to ask Eli.

"The conference kicks off next Monday." Marketing’s director Fred, who was holding this meeting, showed on the projection screen a huge calendar filled with colorful blocks. "The first day is for orientation, warming up and meeting our partners. We’ll be seeing some familiar faces from Sterling Trust, since roughly half of the board members who visited during the initial venture meeting will be there, but the majority of the attendees will be new to us, including their finance specialists, PR team, and a group of technical consultants from Future Vision."

A surprised murmur rose in the room, and Harper’s note-typing halted.

Future Vision? The leader in the field of VR technology? Granted, everyone was already expecting the untraditional investment partnership to bring Miracles unprecedented resources and technical support, but still ... Future Vision, one of the very best consultants one could possibly hire in the industry?

Harper blinked. Eli had always told her that he believed her project was revolutionary, and from the look of it, he must be determined to actually make that happen. But just how invested was he in this?

She was still turning that piece of information over in her head as Fred kept talking. "The next few days will be more in-depth discussions to go over business plans, technical details, marketing strategies, and so on. The teams will be split by function, and every group’s schedule will look slightly different throughout the day, but we’ll all get back together to mingle over breakfast and dinner. That will be the agenda to expect from Tuesday to Friday."

Split team meetings ... Hmm, now Harper felt a little disappointed. Eli was unlikely to be part of the VR discussions in that case, and she was unlikely to be invited to the executive decision making. Which meant that the two of them probably wouldn’t see each other much after Monday ... What was the point of a luxury vacation if she had to exist in the same building with her favorite person without so much as talking to him?

"Now," Fred continued, "we’ll also be staying over the weekend before the conference resumes the week after, so here’s the part that many of you will be excited about — we have Saturday and Sunday planned for a combination of team building and personal time. To make it even better, the agenda for those days isn’t fully finalized yet. Aside from a Luau arranged by the resort, we get to brainstorm our own suggestions about what activities we’re interested in. Anyone want to share some ideas?"

The room exploded with exclamations just as Harper perked up in her own excitement. That might just make up for the time they’d have to spend apart during the week!

"We can suggest whatever we want to do on company budget?" someone in the back gasped. "Like yacht cruises?"

"Golf and spa?" someone else offered.
