For the first time in weeks, Harper agreed to Eli picking her up on Saturday — she didn’t want to make things awkward by meeting up at the store, which would require one of them to wait outside a sex shop like a creep.
A sex shop. Right. So she was really doing this, going adult toy shopping with Eli. The proposal had been a daring whim of the moment, yet now that they were finally here, parked at the front door of Red Eros ... she suddenly wasn’t sure if this would turn out to be the best or the worst decision she had ever made in her life.
"Have you decided on what to buy for me yet?" Eli asked casually as they got out of the car. His tone was light and expectant, with just a tiny hint of tease as he rested his hand at the small of her back to walk her across the sidewalk.
Harper immediately found herself relaxing at the gesture, leaning greedily into his touch. Like always, he was just too good at figuring out what she was thinking and what she needed from him to get into the right mood. She smiled to herself at the thought — maybe there was no need to fidget after all ... because how could any date with such a charming and considerate guy turn out badly?
"I have a few ideas," she said, easing into the playfulness he was trying to lead her with. "I did some research last night, but I’ll have to verify if I know your ... preferences well enough."
That earned her a meaningful glance.
Harper chuckled. Truth be told, she did spend some serious time imagining Eli in all types of scandalous outfits and compromising positions. She would never admit to him what those imaginations did to her. Nervous as she was today, it made her equally eager for the adventurous shopping experience, and she wondered if he—
