Betrayed by Blood, Claimed by the Alpha

Chapter 69

Betrayed by blood

Cain paced the room like a caged animal, his breathing uneven as Callum stood silently. Every muscle in Cain’s body was tight, and the air seemed to stop under the weight of his anger.

His fingernails scraped against the desk, Callum’s words echoed repeatedly in his mind: Xander escaped. Five guards dead.

Xander escaped.

Callum shifted uncomfortably, the movement drawing Cain’s sharp gaze.

"Three days," Cain growled, his voice low and dangerous. "Three fucking days. Is that all it takes for my pack to descend into chaos? And Lydia thought it wise to hide this from me?"

"Alpha, she—" Callum began, but the venom in Cain’s glare shut him up immediately.

Before Cain could speak again, the door creaked open. Both men turned to see Lydia stepping into the room. She had rushed out of her room when she heard Cain had returned. She had hoped for more days before he returned, but he stayed away for just three days? It was way too short.

Lydia stepped into the room, her mind going over everything she’d practiced to say. Her feet came to a halt the second she stepped in to see Callum in the office and Cain looking like he had just heard the worst news ever.
