"Please meet Caleb and Celine, the most mischievous duo on the planet," Rafael introduced his twin kids to Aniya, who were staring at Aniya.
Aniya tried to smile. Both kids were looking at her as if she had come straight from a museum. "Hello," they mumbled before giving a questioning look to their father.
"She is Anaya!" Rafael told them, "And she is a very dear friend of mine!"
Celine scrunched her nose and gave a secret glance to Caleb, "Dad’s friend?"
Caleb shrugged and then headed to Aniya for a handshake, "Nice meeting you, Anaya... my dad’s dear friend!" he rolled his eyes and stepped back.
With a giggle, Celina also shook her hand, "I think I know why Dad befriended you," Her remark was met with silence.
Marissa, who had just gotten back from the airport after picking up her kids, was entering the living room when she heard Celine.
"And why is that, honey ball?" She threw her purse on the couch and plopped on it.
"Can’t you see, Mom? She resembles you so much! Being your daughter, I don’t have that black hair, black eyes, and that clear skin, and Anaya?" she gestured towards her, "As an outsider, how can she inherit it from you? That’s not fair!"
Everyone standing there laughed at her complaints.
Though Celine was shining, Aniya didn’t find her tone insulting, rather, it was amusing.
