Chapter 48: I’ll Be Waiting For You To Come Back Home
Both Yelena and Charlotte stood there, smiling confidently, fully convinced that Mika would give in and come with them obediently, like their own little prisoner of war.
But to their utter surprise, Mika actually jerked his hand free from Yelena’s grip and stepped back with a defiant scowl.
"No way." He said flatly, his tone laced with indignation. "Absolutely not. There’s no way I’m going with you two."
The mother and daughter blinked at him, momentarily stunned, while Mika crossed his arms and huffed, glaring at them like a child refusing to eat his vegetables.
"You think I don’t know what’ll happen if I set foot in your house? It’ll be a nightmare. The second I get there, neither of you will leave me alone for even a moment."
"You’ll cling to me constantly, pestering me to ’spend quality time,’ making me do things, and sticking to my side like glue. I won’t get a single second of peace. Not one!"
Charlotte pouted slightly. "That’s not true...we wouldn’t—"
"Don’t even start!" Mika cut her off, pointing at her dramatically. "I know how you two are. You’re bad enough as it is, but you’re not the real problem here."
He then glanced around nervously, his voice lowering slightly as his expression grew more serious.
"The real problem..." Mika said, his tone almost fearful. "...is what happens if the others find out about this."
Yelena tilted her head curiously. "The others...?"
"Yes! The others!" Mika exclaimed, waving his arms frantically. "If they hear that I spent even one night in your house, they’ll want the same thing! They’ll demand I stay in their homes too! And then what? Huh?"
