Chapter 9: Li Yao Master
The dusky light of late afternoon filtered through the canopy of ancient trees, casting dappled shadows across the forest floor. Shafts of golden sunlight pierced through in rare gaps, illuminating drifting specks of qi dust that floated like fireflies in the heavy, humid air. Leaves rustled above, stirred by a breeze that carried the scent of crushed herbs, moss, and faint traces of blood from previous beast fights.
Amid this silence, a figure stood calmly by a tree, half leaning against the bark with casual arrogance.
Meng Hao’s gaze flicked toward the new arrivals—two girls clad in inner disciple robes , each emanating a potent aura of peak Qi Gathering Realm, 9th level. Their footsteps were light but confident, their expressions tinted with disdain as their mocking voices echoed toward him and Li Yao.
He didn’t react immediately. Instead, his thoughts wandered, sharp as ever beneath the lazy curve of his lips.
"Sigh... these third-rate villains. Why do they always say the same recycled lines? Can’t they come up with something fresh for once?"
He glanced sideways at Li Yao, who stood beside him like a protective flame. Her eyes burned with defiance, glaring at the newcomers with a look that could cut jade.
"Still... she’s my dear lover now, isn’t she?"
A smile tugged at the edge of his lips.
"Back on Earth, if I’d tried something like kissing a girl out of nowhere, I’d have earned a stinging slap. But here?"
His gaze shifted to the soft red tint still lingering on Li Yao’s cheeks.
"Here, with a cheesy third-rate line, I managed to make a daughter of luck lose her self-control. This world... truly amazing."
The thought trailed off as the system’s familiar chime rang out in his ears.
