Chapter 24: I Win... You lose!
Rin yawned as he stepped out of the Duke’s mansion. His feet dragged along the quiet stone path back to his dorm. He stretched his hand and winced in pain, forgetting that he was injured. His head still buzzed from the conversation with the Duke, and that one moment where he’d downed wine straight from a cracked glass.
’What the hell was I thinking? Why did I even drink that thing?’
He didn’t even know if he was being brave or being reckless. He tried to forget everything and went straight to bed.

The next morning, Rin reached the clinic almost an hour late, but it wasn’t a surprise. Theron had told him to come late. After all, he was injured. But the moment he opened the door, the scent of disinfectant and smoke hit his nose. The clinic was a mess... curtains torn, beds flipped, glass still being swept. Magic robots hovered around, buzzing while cleaning the floor. The nurses moved quickly, working hard to clean up the mess that was made the night before.
He wanted to stay behind and clean it up last night, but Theron ordered him to leave.
The first to see him was Elna. Her face squeezed into a frown
"You’re late!"
SLAP!
His face jerked to the side from the unexpected slap. Rin blinked in shock.
"What the..?!" He held his tongue so he wouldn’t complete his sentences. He has no idea what would become of him if he disrespected a superior.
