Chapter 7: A Dangerous Scent!
Rin left the greenhouse after the fake snake bite alarm. He went back to the clinic and managed to deal with other paperwork he so wanted to avoid.
.
.
A few hours later, he was done... the night air was thick, the moon hanging low and indifferent as Rin trudged back toward the staff dorms. His feet ached, his lower back screamed for help, and he swore if one more person dumped their damn work on him just because he was the "youngest assistant medic," he’d jab a thermometer where the sun didn’t shine.
His shift had ended hours ago. But apparently, everyone else forgot how to use their hands the moment paperwork appeared. Bandage inventory. Medicine logging. Injury reports. By the time Rin was done, the hallway lights had switched to night mode, flickering dim gold.
"I hate this world... I liked it when I was unemployed,"
He sighed, dragging his tired legs across the main courtyard. The shortcut was faster, and he didn’t care if it was technically off-limits after midnight.
Bad decision.
He spotted them too late—three older Alpha students lounging like wolves in heat near the water fountain, smoking, laughing too loud, the stench of testosterone clogging the air.
Rin cursed under his breath, lowering his head and speeding up. For some reason, he could perceive it.
Of course, he could. He’s an omega after all. He felt uncomfortable being there and wanted to leave but...
"Heyyy, staff boy!" one of them called, grin wide. "Working late, huh?"
