Chapter 1376: Did You Miss Me?
With her son’s drool smeared on her face, Jiang Xue burst out laughing, then planted two kisses on Little Reunion before heading toward the sofa in the living room.
"You’re back!" Father Jiang looked at Jiang Xue and asked with a smile. Lately, Jiang Xue had been leaving early and coming home late; it was rare for her to come back early today, so everyone was quite happy.
"Mm." Jiang Xue responded, then sat down on the sofa with her son in her arms and chatted with the elders. After talking for a while, it was time for dinner.
After dinner, Jiang Xue didn’t hurry upstairs. Instead, she accompanied the elders out for a walk. It was past eight when they came home, and then she went upstairs to the study to read and study.
She had just read for a bit when the phone rang. It was Mr. Lan. He told Jiang Xue that they had already found out Jin Hao’s identity. Just as Jiang Xue had guessed, Jin Hao was indeed a member of MD Group. However, they still hadn’t found out what position he held there.
Because of Jin Hao’s appearance, Mr. Lan had come up with an idea. Previously, he hadn’t wanted Jiang Xue to go undercover. But now, the situation had changed. Since Jin Hao had taken the initiative to approach Jiang Xue, he felt they could let Jiang Xue turn his move to her own advantage and, through seeing and interacting with Jin Hao, infiltrate the enemy from within.
Mr. Lan brought up this idea over the phone, but Jiang Xue didn’t agree right away. To be honest, she had a very bad impression of Jin Hao, and asking her to have contact with him—she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to control her temper.
Fortunately, Mr. Lan had only floated the idea; he hadn’t actually decided to make Jiang Xue do it. In any case, this was something that required Jiang Xue’s consent.
Of course, Jiang Xue didn’t reject Mr. Lan outright either; she said she needed time to think it over. She also told Mr. Lan that she and Jin Hao had had some unpleasant conflicts. If she suddenly changed her attitude now, it would definitely arouse Jin Hao’s suspicion.
So even if she agreed and this mission was to be carried out, it would have to wait for a while.
Jiang Xue talked with Mr. Lan for a bit longer, then hung up. But after ending the call, she no longer felt like reading. She was weighing whether Mr. Lan’s proposal was feasible and, if she did agree, how she should go about it.
After thinking for a while, Jiang Xue had a rough plan in mind. She took out her phone and called Mu Qiancheng. Right now, she needed the information from Mu Qiancheng’s side to verify Jin Hao’s identity.
If he really was part of MD Group, then in order to bring MD Group down, she could temporarily swallow her dislike of Jin Hao and pretend to cooperate with him.
Although Jiang Xue disliked this kind of feigned civility, it didn’t mean she couldn’t do it. If it truly came down to it, she was capable.
The call connected, and Mu Qiancheng’s voice came through. A smile gathered on Jiang Xue’s face.
"Qian Cheng, are you done with work?" Jiang Xue’s voice was so soft it seemed like it could drip water. Hearing it, Mu Qiancheng’s heart gave a little jolt; his gaze flickered, and he answered with a laugh, "I’m done. Do you miss me?"
"Mm." Jiang Xue responded softly, then said, "Qian Cheng, do you have any assignments coming up?"
"What’s wrong?" Mu Qiancheng was a bit puzzled. Jiang Xue had never asked him this kind of question before. Why was she suddenly asking about it today?
"I want to come see you." Jiang Xue’s voice was very quiet, but Mu Qiancheng still heard her loud and clear, and his mood instantly brightened.
"You really want to come?" Mu Qiancheng asked with a smile.
"Of course. Would I lie to you?" Jiang Xue was a bit displeased. She really missed Mu Qiancheng—a lot, so very much.
