Chapter 1339: Poison in the Wine
Jiang Xue took out her phone and called Mr. Lan. The waiter was dead, and not only that, but had died at the company’s product launch. She might be in some trouble, so she had to inform Mr. Lan first, to avoid being bombarded with questions when the police arrived.
After receiving Jiang Xue’s call, Mr. Lan told her he would send someone over and instructed them not to rush to report it to the police. Jiang Xue agreed, and shortly afterward, a plainclothes man found Jiang Xue. After showing his badge, he requested to take the waiter away.
The waiter was taken away, and only then did Jiang Xue return to the venue. By this time, the launch was nearing its end, and the next event was the cocktail party.
Due to the release of the new product, many people in South City were quite interested, so for a moment, the company’s executives were surrounded by crowds.
As the company’s boss, Jiang Xue was surrounded by an overwhelming number of people. For the sake of the new product’s success, Jiang Xue patiently interacted and socialized with everyone.
Talking so much made Jiang Xue feel a bit thirsty. She saw a waiter standing not far away holding wine, and she gestured to him.
The waiter saw Jiang Xue’s gesture and quickly came over, bringing the wine to Jiang Xue and handing one of the glasses to her.
Jiang Xue took the wine, thanked the waiter, and then brought the glass to her lips. Just as she was about to take a sip, her expression changed suddenly.
She quickly turned her head to look at the waiter, only to find that the waiter who had just served the wine was gone.
Unable to find the waiter, Jiang Xue understood immediately. She thought it was odd that after the incident with the previous waiter, the person gave up trying to kill her.
Now it seemed that the person had not given up at all, but had just changed tactics. If she didn’t know medicine and couldn’t detect the poison in the wine, taking a sip would have been fatal.
After apologizing to those around her, Jiang Xue took the wine glass and went looking for someone. Guo Dagang had been secretly protecting Jiang Xue and, seeing her searching everywhere, promptly walked over and asked, "Sis, what are you looking for?"
"Did you see where the person who just served me wine went?"
Hearing Jiang Xue’s words, Guo Dagang immediately understood and asked, "What’s wrong, is there something wrong with the wine?"
"That’s right, the wine is poisoned."
"What?" Guo Dagang’s expression changed, and he immediately instructed his subordinates to find the person.
However, after searching all around, they couldn’t find the person who had previously served Jiang Xue the wine. Unable to find him, they had no choice but to give up. Nevertheless, Guo Dagang and his men became even more vigilant, secretly keeping an eye on anyone suspicious.
While Jiang Xue and the others were searching, a man was in a hotel room upstairs, changing out of the waiter’s uniform, tidying himself up briefly, and changing into different clothes before leaving.
He returned to the cocktail party venue, intending to see the results of his actions. However, upon seeing Jiang Xue still standing there unharmed, his expression turned sour.
He had thought he would surely succeed this time, but once again, he had failed. As expected, the people above were right; Jiang Xue was not easy to deal with.
It seemed he would have to think of another way to resolve the issue with her.
The man thought as he picked up a glass of wine and walked towards Jiang Xue. Since the poison couldn’t take her down, he could only proceed with a close-range assassination.
At this moment, Jiang Xue had no idea that after failing to poison her, the person was now planning to assassinate her. She was currently talking with Si Ye.
