Chapter 522: Parting Unpleasantly (1)
"What if it’s an order? I’m sorry, but I can’t execute it. You owe a debt, you pay it; you commit a murder, you atone for it. If you make a mistake, you must pay the price."
"As for a request, that depends on Mr. Lu’s sincerity."
After Mu Qiancheng spoke, Mr. Lu’s face turned as dark as ink. He looked at Mu Qiancheng, his eyes flashing with murderous intent.
"Good for you, Mu Qiancheng!" Accompanied by Mr. Lu’s roar was the sound of a hand slamming on the table. Lu Ling was startled, but Mu Qiancheng remained calmly seated.
He knew Mr. Lu would be angry, but so what? There was no way he would appease the man by letting his wife endure grievances, or even divorce her.
Mu Qiancheng looked up at Mr. Lu without speaking. He had already made his stance clear; how Mr. Lu would decide was his own business.
Mr. Lu met Mu Qiancheng’s candid gaze, unable to find an outlet for his anger, and finally could only grit his teeth and say, "Mu Qiancheng, I hope you won’t regret this."
"Don’t worry, Mr. Lu, I never regret my decisions," Mu Qiancheng said lightly. After speaking, seeing that it was getting late, he stood up directly.
"Mr. Lu, if there’s nothing else, I’m going home. My wife and child are waiting for me."
Mr. Lu gave Mu Qiancheng a deep look but ultimately said nothing and let him leave.
After Mu Qiancheng left, Lu Ling could no longer hold back and asked her father, "Dad, why didn’t you teach him a lesson just now?"
This Mu Qiancheng was simply too much, despising her right in front of her father, how infuriating. What on earth was wrong with her that he would disdain her so?
She had seen Jiang Xue before. Although her clothing, bearing, and demeanor didn’t seem rural, it was a fact she grew up in the countryside, and her family wasn’t well-off, that was also a fact.
She couldn’t understand what Mu Qiancheng saw in Jiang Xue. Could it possibly be her face? Speaking of which, she wasn’t uglier than Jiang Xue. So why was he so cold towards her?
Lu Ling couldn’t figure it out, and neither could Mr. Lu. Of course, their confusion stemmed from different reasons. Mr. Lu was puzzled about where Mu Qiancheng got his confidence to defy him, a military district leader.
As for Lu Ling’s confusion, it was simple: why was Mu Qiancheng not interested in her? Previously, she truly wasn’t lying; there were indeed lots and lots of men pursuing her at work.
However, she always looked down on those men who fawned over her, instead finding a man like Mu Qiancheng, who showed her no indulgence, to be more masculine.
"How would you have me teach him a lesson?" Mr. Lu glared at his daughter in annoyance. His daughter was good in every way but clueless when it came to men.
"You’re the leader; you can teach him however you want, right?" Lu Ling said as a matter of course. As a leader, it should be a simple matter for her father to discipline Mu Qiancheng.
Oh, and she wasn’t sure if the complaint letter she wrote had any effect. She wondered if the superiors had given Mu Qiancheng any punishment. If she could get him to leave the company, she could then approach him and make him plead for her.
Thinking of this, Lu Ling said to Mr. Lu, "Dad, is there anything else? Can I leave now?"
Lu Ling was eager to know if Mu Qiancheng had been disciplined, looking longingly at her parents with a pleading expression.
