Chapter 49: Helping Teach a Lesson
Every time Jiang Xue gets into trouble, it’s always Cheng Li who cleans up her mess, apologizing on her behalf, which makes him dislike Jiang Xue even more.
So, when he saw Cheng Li crying as she came out of the Mu Family’s house, he thought it must have been because Jiang Xue bullied her.
"Mu, Aunt Mu, I didn’t scare anyone." Zhuoyue’s face flushed with embarrassment when Bai Yuhua said this to him.
He knew the Mu Family was protective, and he also knew the Mu Family treated Jiang Xue well. Previously, he thought the Mu Family was foolish for this, thinking Mu Qiancheng was out of his mind to fall for someone as worthless as Jiang Xue.
What’s so good about Jiang Xue? She’s spoiled and pampered, can’t handle anything. Even if she went to high school, what’s the use? Being from the countryside, education and culture hold no value there.
"Then why are you yelling at my house?" Bai Yuhua questioned Zhuoyue. She also knew about Zhuoyue’s feelings for Cheng Li and used to think favorably of the two. She thought this way, Jiang Xue would have a friend, wouldn’t be so lonely, and they could visit each other often.
But today, after learning Cheng Li’s true nature, she felt Zhuoyue was foolish to fall for such a scheming woman.
Looking at Zhuoyue now, Bai Yuhua seemed to see the former Jiang Xue — being deceived by Cheng Li while still helping to count the money.
"I, I saw Cheng Li crying, so I thought I’d come ask, ask about it." Zhuoyue stammered out his reason, which made Bai Yuhua’s face look even worse.
She grew even more annoyed with Cheng Li and questioned, "So, did Cheng Li say it was my Xue’er who bullied her?"
