Chapter 6: Pretending to Care
Jiang Xue looked at Cheng Li, at her concerned expression. If she hadn’t witnessed her cruelty and cold-blooded side, she would still, as in her past life, think Cheng Li genuinely cared for her.
"I’m fine!" Jiang Xue nodded slightly, her gaze not lingering on Cheng Li for too long, fearing she might not be able to restrain her emotions.
"Little Xue, what’s wrong? You don’t seem very happy?" Cheng Li looked at Jiang Xue and cautiously asked. They had been friends for over a decade, and she knew Jiang Xue better than Jiang Xue knew herself.
Even though they had only been together for less than a minute, she could sense something was off with Jiang Xue’s mood. Moreover, she couldn’t tell if it was just her imagination, but she felt like Jiang Xue didn’t really want to see her.
Why?
"It’s nothing, I’m just a bit tired. If you don’t have anything important, you should go back first." Jiang Xue said flatly, lowering her head slightly, concealing the irritation and hatred in her eyes.
"Little Xue, you?" Cheng Li was stunned, looking at Jiang Xue, feeling more and more that something was different about her today. Before, Jiang Xue would never tell her to leave. Because, in Jiang Xue’s heart, she was the most important person.
Her position in Jiang Xue’s heart even exceeded that of Jiang Xue’s parents. Jiang Xue wouldn’t listen to her parents, but to her, she was obedient.
Whatever she said, Jiang Xue believed.
But today, they hadn’t even exchanged a couple of sentences, and she was already told to leave. What had happened?
Could it be that someone said something in front of Jiang Xue?
Quickly, Cheng Li dismissed that thought. Besides her, Jiang Xue barely had any friends. And if she wouldn’t listen to her parents, how could she listen to others?
