Mythran's Master Of All

Chapter 589 - It's Getting Late

Barbara had grabbed a quick snack and went upstairs to the theatre room to watch a bit of television, since she knew Denise had everything handled, and she waited until she thought they had started their date before trying to go back in. She left the theatre room and went to the bedroom door, and overheard Lisa and Ren talking. Rather than interrupt, she went back to the theatre room to wait.

After a little while, Barbara heard one of the other room's doors open and close. It didn't bother her because that happened frequently with so many people in the same house. All of their schedules were slightly different, so their sleep times were off a little from normal. She smiled, since her own sleep schedule had always been off, because she slept in the afternoon to be ready for the evening shift.

Her husband Donald had always accepted her choice to do the night shift, and he did his best to not complain about it; but, she knew he didn't like her working so late all the time and kept trying to suggest she switch shifts occasionally. She would just laugh and kiss him to shut him up; but, since they had moved into the guest house, that playful kiss had led to a bit more playing, and now it had become their signal for full blown sex.

Barbara couldn't tell when it had transitioned to that, and she honestly didn't care. They were more in love now than they had been during their entire marriage, and they were a lot more relaxed with each other as well. She wasn't about to question it or try to figure out how it happened. All that mattered was that it did, and they were both happy about the change.

At 9:30pm, she went back to Ren's room and saw Denise and Ren were in their VR headsets and the television was only showing a Blue Screen. She chuckled and sat down on the chair beside the bed and took out her cell phone, and brought up the latest episode of Big Sister. She plugged in the ear buds and only put one in her left ear, so she could use her right ear to listen for anything that might happen with Ren, Denise, or anyone else that needed her attention.

Around 10:30pm, Barbara heard another series of door openings and closings, and she looked up when Ren's bedroom door opened.

“Hey, Barbara.” Elise said. “Easy night ahead of you, I think.”

Barbara paused the video on her cell phone. “I'm not going to complain.” She said. “He promised to log out at midnight, remember?”

Elise smiled back and went over to the closet. “It's been a while since the last time he did that.”

“I felt kind of bad that I forced him to promise, but he needs the real world interactions to keep him grounded.” Barbara said. “Plus, Officer Holly can't get back online until the weekend, and I don't want him wandering around and possibly meeting you-know-who again without her there.”

“I'm glad she kept him safe like she did.” Elise said and took off her shirt and business skirt. “Getting us that tracking info and server IDs for Suzie's computer setup was just icing on the cake.”

“Will it be useful?” Barbara asked.

“In a sense.” Elise said and slipped on a pair of jogging pants and an oversized t-shirt. “Every computer online has a digital location that can be traced. Whether that computer still exists right now is another story.”

Barbara nodded. “That's why I asked if it will be useful. Can you track a computer that's probably been wiped?”

“I don't think it matters. All we need is the records from her service provider, because that can tell us where the computer was at the time of the incident.” Elise said and walked over to the bed. “When she tried to hypnotize him, she really got the ball rolling in his life, didn't she?”

Barbara sighed. “He's always been confident and sure of himself; but, after hearing what he remembers, which is pretty much everything, I... I've been more afraid for him than I normally am.”

Elise nodded. “You and me both.” She said and climbed onto the bed on Ren's other side. “Once it gets out what he remembers...”

“...everything will either stop or get much more hectic around here.” Barbara said. “For all of us.”

Elise rested her head on the pillow to stare at the cute little man she had attached herself to, and she hoped that it was the former that would happen. She wanted it to stop and for him to be safe; but, she knew it was only a faint hope and planned for his life to become a lot more hectic.

Elerlyth had appeared inside her small one room house in Ren's county and hopped out of bed. She equipped her armor and ran outside to where she had stored her mount, Etheria.

“Hey, boy!” Elerlyth said happily. “Let's go for a quick ride to see Ren!”

Etheria neighed back happily, and Elerlyth took his reins as she climbed onto the saddle. They took off up into the sky and flew over to the city, and she landed right in front of the Main House. She hopped off and went inside, and ran up the stairs. She knocked on the apartment door, and Frikara opened it.

“Hi, Frikara.” Elerlyth said and darted into the apartment. “Ren, you're not going to believe what... wait, where's Ren?”

“He's in Aurora on a date with an Adventurer.” Frikara said. “What's the happy news?”

“I... it's Adventurer's business.” Elerlyth said. “I'm sorry for disturbing you.”

“That's all right.” Frikara said. “I'm sure your disrespect to us for barging in like that was unintentional.”

Elerlyth opened her mouth to respond hotly, then sighed. “Yes, it was.” She said and left the apartment.

“I think she's a bad influence on him.” One of the maids said before Frikara could shut the bedroom door.

“It doesn't matter what we think.” Frikara said. “He loves her, and we will give her as much leeway as he wants us to.”

The bedroom door shut and Elerlyth couldn't hear if the discussion continued, so she went downstairs and outside.

I wonder if I should go to Aurora and interrupt his date, or just message him? Elerlyth thought, and Etheria neighed at her. “Yes, a message would be more appropriate.” She said out loud. “I should have done that to check on where he was, instead of riding here first.”

Elerlyth opened the messaging system and started writing a message to Ren, to ask him if he was busy and if he had the time to see her in person. The messaging system closed abruptly, just before she was about to hit send, and she received a couple of popups.
