Mythran's Master Of All

“What in the blue blazing hell is that?!?” Fern exclaimed.

“Hopefully something that works like a charm.” Ren said. “I've never driven it before, though.”

“You drive it?!?” Fern asked. “How? I don't see a horse to pull it.”

Ren was tempted to say that they were inside, but didn't want to get into a conversation that could be full of misunderstandings.

“It runs on people power.” Ren said and climbed onto it and sat on the seat. He put his feet on the pedals and started to pedal. He didn't do it too much, because he was wearing his armor and he wasn't quite used to using it in normal situations like this. He thought about storing it and equipping his Travelling Clothes, but decided that he'd rather keep the protection and bonuses it gave instead.

Ren looked at the levers for the attachments. He needed the harvester in the front so he pulled that lever and the big thresher wheel slid down into place. He looked at the other levers and figured he might as well seed while he was at it and pulled that lever, too. The large rake in the back dropped down on the farm vehicle, then Ren used the seed spreader lever which dropped a spinning thing down behind the rake. There was a container on the back for seeds, and Ren looked at Fern and Russell.

“Before I start this, I assume you have bags of seeds I can use.”

“Seeds? While you harvest?” Fern asked. “Are you crazy?”

Ren chuckled. “I'm going to harvest and rake at the same time, so why not seed, too?”

“Russell? Go grab a bag of seed for this nut.” Fern said. Russell nodded and took off at a run. While they waited, Ren thought about irrigation and looked around. He couldn't see anything at all for water distribution, and knew he was going to have to change that. For now, though; he took out several steel squares and enchanted them with a glyph of one Water and one Wind rune, and placed them on the back of the farm vehicle.

Teepo? Where's Russell?

“He's about 20 straw and mud houses in.” Teepo said. “I don't know how the villagers tell the difference between the buildings, since they are all pretty much the same; but, I think... yes, here he comes with a large bag of seeds. It must be a storage area or something.”

Ren stood up and waited for Russell to come over with the big bag of seeds. He took it from the boy and dumped the whole bag into the seed container, then passed the empty bag back to Russell and looked at the boy's boots.

“Can I see your boots for a minute?” Ren asked Russell, and the boy shrugged and slipped the boots off. Ren examined them and saw they weren't much better than socks, and shook his head. “You need better footwear if you're going to be my official helper.”

“I do?” Russell asked, then his eyes widened. “Did you say helper?”

“You've helped me out a lot today, didn't you?” Ren asked.

Russell nodded. “It was fun, too.” He said. “We helped so many people!”

Ren smiled and took out the table he had. It was the council's old rickety table, and he chuckled. “I forgot I gave my table to the council.” He said, then made another one right in front of them. It only took a couple of minutes, and Ren took out some Spider Silk cloth and sewed up a pair of boots, with an extra thick layer for the soles. He activated his Craft Wondrous Item ability, and the 1 foot square golden platform appeared. He put the Spider Silk Boots on it and chose the Boots of Striding and Leaping recipe. They glowed for 30 seconds, and Ren picked them up to examine them as the platform disappeared.
