Mythran's Master Of All

Chapter 327 - To Clint's Ranch

Ren ran back to his shop and saw Clint's mount Izabeal tied up outside, and went inside to meet Clint.

“Thare ya are.” Clint said. “Ah friend o' mine is needin' anothar bow.” He said. “Ah'm lookin at whatcha got fer sale, an' they're jus' regular bows.”

Ren nodded. “I can put a normal enchantment on it, but it won't be great. Wood just can't hold enchantments like metal can.”

“Wha' abou' anothar one like Tommy's?” Clint asked. “'Cept fer the heavy part. Ah doubt Billy could handle tha' big of ah bow.”

Ren chuckled. “Tommy's putting it to good use, I take it?”

“Is he evah!” Clint said. “Ah'm tempted ta have ya enchant mah own weapons ageen.”

“No can do.” Ren said. “Each part was enchanted before I put your bow bracers together. If I tried to add another enchantment, it would replace them all because it counts as a single item now.”

“Dammit.” Clint said. “Wha' abou' making anothar set of 'em?”

“Are they dragging you down already?” Ren asked. “I thought they'd last a lot longer than this.”

Clint chuckled. “Naw, they're workin' great.” He said. “Ah'm just bein' greedy.”

Ren nodded “Let me know when they aren't measuring up, and I'll put the time aside and I'll try to do up a better set for you.”

Clint pat Ren on the shoulder. “Ah'll try an' keep mah mouth shut 'til then.”

Ren laughed and grabbed one of the normal-sized bows from the wall. “This should only take a few minutes.”

“Ah'll wait righ' here, then.” Clint said.

Ren went to the forge section of the shop and tossed a couple high quality iron ingots into the smelter after starting up the forge. The iron ingots melted pretty fast, and Ren stirred it up very quickly and then tossed in a single chunk of gold ore. After a couple of minutes of constant stirring, he skimmed off the impurities from the ore, made sure no one could see him, then used his bare hand to scoop up some of the molten metal. He covered the middle part of the bow where the handle was, squeezed it slightly to make the grooves for fingers in it, then absorbed the heat before it burned the wood.

Ren spread a little bit of molten metal along the inside of the bow to the tips and absorbed the heat along the way, then did the same to the front of the bow. He added just enough metal to reinforce the structural integrity, without compromising the flexibility of the wood. He popped off the standard string, which was going to be useless for the retooled bow, and covered the ends with metal as well. He had to use a tool to add the proper slits for holding the string, and absorbed the heat from it. After that, he took out some Spider Silk String and tied up a new string for the bow, and attached it by compressing the bow and slipping the knotted string onto both ends of it.

“Clint, what kind of enchantment does Billy want?” Ren asked his friend.

“Ah don' have any idea.” Clint said from the shop. “Maybe jus' extra damage an' Lightnin' fer now.”

“Sounds good.” Ren said and took out a handful of the small 1 gold coin diamonds. “If he doesn't like it, I can make another one when we get to your ranch.”

“Ya don' haveta do tha', Ren.” Clint said. “Ya'll are doin' me a huge favor ahlready by comin' out in tha firs' place!”

Ren stored the bow and used more molten metal to make a set of bracers, then used his Craft Wondrous Item platform to make them into Bracers of Archery. He took the bow back out of inventory and used his Retain Essence skill to store the enchantment on the bracers and transferred it to the bow, then redid the bracers and stored both items.

Ren enchanted one of the small diamonds with a glyph of 5 runes of Damage, making it +50 damage for a single diamond. Having mastered my Enchanting skill is so cool. He thought, then did another and set them aside. He chuckled when he remembered trying to add more runes than that to a small diamond while in the Water Realm, and how spectacularly it had exploded when the enchantment overloaded it.

I'm so glad I was completely surrounded by water at the time. Ren thought and enchanted a diamond with Lightning and gave it a glyph of 5 runes, which was a total of 20 Lightning damage. He did this three times more and set them aside, then took the bow out again. He dipped the 2 Damage diamonds into the smelter and attached them to the top of the metal handhold on the inside of the bow, then did the same with the four Lightning damage diamonds and put them at the bottom of the handhold.

Ren stored the unused diamonds and a couple of the iron ingots so he could make another bow later if it was needed, then examined the now completed bow.

Archer's Medium Bow of Lightning (Billy)
This bow grants the user (Billy) the Archery skill. If the skill is already present, it instead grants +5 levels to that skill and +110 normal Damage and +80 Lightning Damage to attacks while using this bow.

This bow cannot be sold or traded, as it can only be used by (Billy).
