Mythran's Master Of All

“By the gods!” Lusinia exclaimed. “What's happening?”

They could feel everything Ren felt, and his cold anger burned through them.

“I think something really bad happened.” Verwynn said. “He's so angry!”

“I'm glad we're connected to him.” Navruth said. “I can't imagine what it's like to be on the other side of this!”

Andrela and Frikara hadn't said anything, and the other three maids looked at them. The two maids were calm and relaxed, and didn't react at all.

“Why aren't you...”

“He's protecting us.” Frikara said. “We should be drowning in Terror right now.”

Andrela nodded. “Close your eyes and feel what he's sharing.” She said. “He's trying so hard not to lose himself to his anger; so, let's help him keep it in check.”

Lusinia, Verwynn and Navruth laid back and closed their eyes, and listened to Andrela's advice. They concentrated on Ren and his feelings, and ignored their own reactions to it. Once they did, they believed what Frikara and Andrela said was true and became a buffer for him. The anger didn't touch them like it had at first, and they accepted it easily and absorbed it. The anger eased away; and just as they were about to rejoice in their success, a deep sadness replaced it.

“By the gods.” They all said together, and their tears flowed unbidden.

Stella sat and watched the scene in the engine room play out, and tears came to her eyes. “Oh, Ren.” She said and wiped her eyes as she started to cry. “This seems to be a recurring theme for you.”

Ren stood up and clenched his fists. His was still angry; but it was a little distant at the moment. He could think clearly, and wasn't blinded by it; and he could also feel the reassuring presence of his maids. Ren walked over to the wall and grabbed a piece of rope, cut it into several pieces, and tied up everyone in the engine room.

“I... I didn't... do anything!” One of them managed to say through his Terror as Ren tied him up.

“You knew, though.” Ren said. “Did you say anything? Report it? Protest? Object at all?”

The worker didn't say anything and Ren searched them to remove anything that could be used to cut the rope, then tied them all together, back-to-back, almost in a bundle.
