Chapter 280 - I Could Use That
After Ren's little display, everyone relaxed. Now that they knew he didn't intend to be as scary as they had heard from the Librarian, it was a much more jovial atmosphere than the slightly tension filled one. With the unexpected formality over with, Lara took Ren's hand and intertwined her fingers with his.
“Before you ask, they've got enough food for the four days of travel.” Lara said. “Fernosia even hired an experienced scout to lead them to proper camping sites, and a retired Guardian of the Land to set up basic defences.”
Ren nodded, took out a platinum coin, and thought giant. It increased to the right scale and he handed it to Fernosia.
“What... what is this?” She asked, surprised.
“I don't know how much it costs to hire two professionals for four days.” Ren said. “Is this enough to cover it?”
“Wh-what?!?”
“I can't expect you to pay for this.” Ren said, and motioned to the gathered giants. “The refugees are my responsibility. Please accept this as compensation, and let me know if you need any more.”
Fernosia looked at Lara with wide eyes. “Is he serious?”
Lara nodded, and Fernosia shifted her eyes back to Ren.
“Kind sir, your generosity isn't necessary; but it is most welcome.” Fernosia said and took the platinum coin. “Even though you are the Dreaded Foe, as proclaimed by the Chancellor himself; you have touched my heart with your kindness.”
Fernosia looked at the size of her hands in comparison to Ren, and sighed slightly. She extended a single finger and rubbed the right side of his face, and then the left side.
