Mythran's Master Of All

Chapter 217 - Real Life? No Problem

Ren laid there in the bed and waited for the VR headset to be removed. He couldn't do it himself because his arms were still secured to the bed. He couldn't wait for the IV needles to be removed, no matter how much his body needed them to flush out his system. The headset was removed, and Barbara smiled sadly at him.

“Oh, Ren.” Barbara said as she put the headset aside. “I'm so sorry.”

Ren sighed. “I was so close.” He shook his head. “All that loot...”

“Maybe it'll still be there when you go back in.” Barbara said, and Ren laughed.

“I don't think so.” He said. “If I was the Commander, I'd have several squads in there to clean the place out before any other giants show up.”

“What about your body?” Barbara asked. “What happens to that?”

Ren's eyes widened. “Oh, crap.” He said. “Barbara, slap my forehead, will you? I'm so stupid!”

“What is it?”

“I should have transferred a lot more to Princess, besides the Deed to the Garrison.” Ren said. “I'm going to lose 5% of my money, something that I have in inventory, and a random equipped item.”

Barbara thought about it. “Oh, no.”

“Yeah.” Ren said. “My inventory is close to full. Anything that I have can drop.” He shook his head again. “Hell, out of the stuff I have equipped... I could lose Teepo's ring!”

Barbara put a hand on his forehead and tapped it with a finger. “There. You've chastised yourself enough.”

“All right.” Ren said. “I'll worry about what I lost when I go back in.”

“Good!” Barbara said, then grinned at him. “I'm so glad to see you awake!”

“Me, too.” Ren said. “I can't believe that happened to me.”

“Me, either.” Barbara said, and it was her turn to shake her head. “Doctor Hobbard has been taking care of you right from the start.”

“I know.” Ren said and closed his eyes. “It took almost a year for me to trust him enough to not scream at him every time he examined me.”

Barbara nodded. “Well, at least it's all out in the open now.” She smiled. “On a different note, I watched the second episode of the show. It was great!”

“The show?”

“Don't be coy! Your show!”

“Oh.” Ren said. “Right. I missed it.”

“The studio sent over a copy, if you want to watch it after therapy and breakfast.”

“Therapy?”

Barbara chuckled. “You've been immobile in the bed for a week. You need to exercise!”

Ren looked down at the two IVs in his arms. “Um, I can't really move right now.”

“I don't think you have to worry about that much longer.” Barbara said, and his room door opened.

“Hey, little trooper.” Denise said, as she came in wearing a nurse's outfit on top, and black pants on the bottom. “Guess what? Your blood work came back clean!”

“YES!” Ren yelled. “Get these damn things out of me! RIGHT NOW!”

Denise and Barbara laughed.

“We were planning on waiting until lunchtime...” Denise said, and Ren groaned. “I'm kidding, of course.” She said and looked at Barbara. “I'll distract him and cover his eyes, can you do the honors?”

“I'd be happy to.” Barbara said and got the items needed to remove the IVs safely and cleanly.

“What do you mean distract...” Ren tried to say, and then stared at Denise as she stepped close.

“Is it hot in here?” Denise said, and unzipped her nurse outfit to the middle of her chest. Ren blinked his eyes a few times at the sight of Denise's bra, that offered her chest up like they were on a platter.

“Wh... wh...” He mumbled.

Denise bent over him and ruffled his hair, and he swallowed audibly because he could see her silky mounds shift and hang down right in front of his face. If Ren had to guess, each one was about 2 handfuls in size.

There was no danger of them falling out of the bra, however; because Denise had used extra tape to ensure that they wouldn't. Ren didn't know that, and his mouth formed a little 'o' of surprise because it looked like they easily would.

“How are you feeling today?” Denise asked him as she put his hair back into place, and Ren sputtered something unintelligible. “That good, huh? I'm glad.”

“All done.” Barbara said.

“Wh... what...?” Ren blinked his eyes a few more times, and kept staring at Denise as she stood up straight and slowly zipped her top back up.

“That was quite the distraction.” Barbara shook her head as she untied Ren's arms, then smiled. “He didn't even notice the ice cold cleaner from the cotton swabs.”

“If I'd known the effect they'd have on him, I'd have used them sooner.” Denise said, and chuckled at Ren's surprised expression. “You can close your mouth now.” She said and smiled.

Where has she been hiding them? Ren thought. I didn't think she had much of a chest. He closed his mouth. Boy, was I wrong!

“Can you stick around and fill me in on what happened last night, while I get his breakfast ready?” Denise asked Barbara.

“Sure.” Barbara said, and touched Ren's hand. “Don't scratch around the gauze.”

“Oh, great! Now it's itchy!” Ren said, and Barbara chuckled as she left the room with Denise. Ren wasn't sure where they were going to make breakfast for him, or how; since he had no idea what existed outside of the room. He lifted an arm to scratch an itch which was right beside the gauze and the IV injection site, and his arm felt weak. Ren sighed, and moved both arms, and they were both weaker than they were last week.

“Dammit.” Ren said, and sat up in bed. His elbow wasn't as sore as it was a week ago, and he wasn't wearing the sling. He laughed at himself. How would I wear a sling, with both arms tied to the bed and IV needles in them?

Ren flexed his hands several times, and then pulled the rollaway table across the bed and checked his emails on the laptop.

“Spam.” “Spam.” “Spam.” “Sp... Lucy?”

Ren sighed as he looked at the sending date. It was from a week ago. Unable to resist her allure, Ren clicked on it.

Ren,
You don't know how sorry I am about the things you are going through. I know my words don't mean much; but, I really regret that I'm not there to help you get through it.

I know... it's too little, too late. I saw you with that redhead. I'm not sure how she managed to work her way into your life, but you should be careful of her. It's always the quiet ones that surprise you.

I was tempted to join Barbara, Stella, and Denise in leaving the hospital to take care of you, but I'm sure that you wouldn't want me around, especially considering the way things ended between us.

Anyways, I hope you are feeling better.

Wishing you all the best.

Lucy
