Chapter 234: If he wakes up
The surgery lasted for almost 8 hours. The sky had started to turn dark by the time the door of the operation theatre opened.
When Maxim stepped out of the operation theatre, his eyes spotted Logan who was still standing at the same spot where he had last seen him in the morning.
At this time, Alex also walked out. Unlike Maxim who appeared just a tad bit tired, Alex was sporting a pale face and dark under eyes. There was a purplish bruise forming on his jaws due to the punch that one of Louis’ elite guards threw at him.
Coincidentally, the mark from Maxim’s punch happened to be on the same place on the other side of his face and that was yet to fade. So with two glaring bruises on either side of his face, Alex looked rather comical yet pathetic.
He had just wanted to stay away from the chaos that his father and grandfather combined were, so he had decided to work overnight but Louis’ case came unexpectedly and crashed on him like a hot potato without giving him a break.
If there were other doctors available, then Alex would have dropped that case to someone else and left unabashedly. But there was no one else around, not even Maxim. And what’s more, that patient had been shooed away by him before so Alex decided to step in this time. Unknowingly, he was even punched for his kindness.
Before Maxim could make his way towards Logan, he was surrounded by the group of men who had been waiting in the hallway.
As he retreated a step to keep a distance from them, his back bumped into something... more specifically, someone.
’’Shit, are you blind or what?" Alex cursed in a whisper as he rubbed his face carefully.
