Chapter 212: Letting go
In the hospital garden area.
Diana and Louis were sitting on the bench and the latter had a gloomy expression on his face. She had accompanied him when he insisted but now that they were sitting here, she had no idea about what to say. After lecturing her about how she should not play around in the hospital, the man had gone quiet as he quietly looked at the group of kids who were playing in the garden area. His face was downcast and he seemed disheartened.
The silence made it somewhat unbearable for her. Even Diana felt sad for no reason when she saw such an expression on his face. She wanted to console him but she had no idea what she should console him about. They were strangers who just met a few times accidentally. How could she know what was upsetting him? And even if she knew it, she would not say anything for fear of triggering him.
Although he seemed calm now, but she did not forget their first encounter where he had almost lost his temper out of being paranoid about his health.
So no matter how unsettled she felt, she just stayed put in her seat until she heard the man speak.
’’The doctor said that the success rate of my surgery is high. The tumor is not life-threatening.’’
Diana did not respond to him when she heard it but she was relieved. Since the first day she met him, he had been paranoid about his health condition. Before she could have gathered his previous records, he had left and decided to visit another doctor so she had no idea about his health.
’’I had my people conduct an in-depth investigation on that doctor...’’ Louis muttered softly, but his words stunned Diana.
Diana frowned. Investigate the doctor? It was not something an ordinary patient could afford to do or try to do.
’’His background is clean and he was top amongst his peers. All the cases under him have been a success so far so I am relieved,’’ Louis smiled a little but the smile looked so bitter. He looked at the group of kids and his tone changed as he spoke suddenly, ’’When I lost my son, he was around their age.’’
Diana followed his gaze and glanced at the kids who were running after each other. They seemed to be around 7 or 8 years old.
