Chapter 436: Crown Prince Aurelius of Heliosa
The soldiers were under strict instructions to search and inspect everyone who came to Emberlynx today. If they were using magic to alter their appearance, or at the slightest indication, they should be taken into custody.
Abrielle was worried for Cedric knowing he would not want to remove his scarf in such an open place. It wasn’t because he feared he would be recognised. That wasn’t the case, the last time Cedric’s face was seen in public was 11 years ago. It was because he would draw too much unwanted attention. Cedric’s advantage lies in the anonymity of his true identity.
The soldiers sensed her resistance and were ready to take her away at any point.
Cedric stepped up and spoke. "My wife is nervous. We will prefer a private inspection." He spoke out. The soldier was insistent, seeing no reason they needed a private inspection.
"You will have to take them off here. Those are my orders. " He insisted. He saw no need for common merchants to need any special attention.
They were dressed like southern merchants, their clothes Simple and minimalist but their presence spoke otherwise. It felt suspicious and out of place.
Cedric’s hold tightened. "I am sorry we can’t." He wasn’t going to take off his scarf in a public place. This blatant non-conformity was not accepted. Cedric’s Heliosian accent was perfect, giving out no clue he was a foreigner.
Still, the soldier couldn’t help but sense something was off. Not that Cedric even bothered hiding it. He unsheathed his sword and pointed it at Cedric. Gasps rang at the development of things.
Elias, who was not far away in the queue, saw this and was worried. He wasn’t sure how bad Cedric’s condition was, but he was certain Cedric wasn’t in a state to fight.
