Chapter 416: He can’t even imagine it
His smile was charming and terrifying at the same time. Her tongue was tied and she did not know what to say. She would rather not say it out loud.
"It is not what you think." She managed to say. He knew she was hiding something again. Cedric sighed, rubbing his thumb underneath her eyes. The subtle sparks were relaxing. His smile faded into something gentle.
"But it was something that made you cry." He hissed, backing away. Sudden irritation blooming in him. Even when he tried to overlook it, he just couldn’t ignore her tears when it was related to him.
Abrielle went silent, and it became deafening between them. "Can you at least just tell me what made you cry? You can’t tell me everything if you don’t want to and I understand why you would want to leave. I am a fugitive right now and it’s my family that put us in this situation. I just really hope you decide to stay."
His voice went stiff, a gentle touch on his hand. "It is not completely your fault, and besides, we are in this together." She said, holding his gaze. Even if her parents tried to protect them there is a limit to how long they could stay. Sooner or later they will have to leave Vesper.
They both knew this. That was why Sebastian suggested she seek refuge with her cousin in Heliosa.
"You know Sebastian has holy magic that enables him to have vision. He saw something from my future. That is what made me cry." She explained, maybe it was better if she told him.
Cedric nervously swallowed. Something in her voice told him he wasn’t going to like this. He still needed to know.
"What did he see?" Cedric asked and he felt his heart squeeze after he spoke. Abrielle’s head bowed, her voice was low like a squeak. "I died at your hand. You killed me. "
