Chapter 407: Sarah again
The knights were on Cedric’s tail, and his plan was to lead them on. Let them focus on him while Abrielle snuck out. In Evelyn’s and Giselle’s hands, he was sure they would make it out successfully.
"How are we going to cross the gates?" Elias asked, he took a fast glance behind to see the soldiers hot on their tails.
"We won’t be needing the gates to escape. Just lead them on long enough, then we split, disappearing into the dark corners. Individually, it should not be hard to escape; besides, there is a tunnel network underneath the city." Cedric didn’t say much but they understood.
That night, Vitalis was filled with tension, the streets crowded with knights, and the Rumours spread faster than wildfire. The first prince killed the king.
On the other side of the capital, within the forest, a small group comprising four ladies and one cat sneakily made their way through the thick forest of the inner island.
Giselle, the head maid, was dressed like a merchant with Abrielle and Jubilee dressed like boys. Jubilee’s hair was tied into a messy bun, matching her outfit, as she looked like a young master. It wasn’t out of place for a boy to have long hair so it fit.
Abrielle was dressed in a shabbier outfit. Her face was smeared with coal to cover her face and make her look more like a servant boy to Jubilee. Her clothes stink but it was the perfect disguise. Evelyn didn’t change her outfit, but everything was perfect.
It was a group led by Evelyn, a rich mistress, and her brother with his servant boy. Giselle was a random merchant going the same way.
The soil was wet, the forest dark, but they weren’t afraid. The sounds of moving water crashing against the shore drew closer until they eventually made it to the sea, separating the mainland from the island.
