Chapter 372: Longing
The journey by sea from Pius to Vitalis was a day’s journey. It went by quickly before they knew it, and an entire day had passed, and the shores of Vitalis were within their sight.
Abrielle spent the entire journey resting in her room. By dawn the next morning, she was up and decided to take a walk on the deck.
The hull of the vessel swayed lightly as the waves hit it. Abrielle sat up in bed, her eyes darting around the empty room. Cedric was already gone, she sighed feeling sorry for him. She felt a bit guilty knowing she was part of his stress.
"I need some air." She sighed.
Worse, he was to go to war after this. She moved her legs to the side and put on simple sandals before grabbing a random coat. It was oversized and smelled like sandalwood and cinnamon. It was his coat.
After getting cosy in the coat, she left the room. Her footsteps echoed through the walls. It was early on the morning and the sound waves dominated every other sound
She made her way up the stairs, the deck coming to her sight. The lanterns on the wall were still burning.
The sun wasn’t yet visible on the horizon, but twilight had broken; the not-so-distant land of Vitalis was just beyond.
The sky was beautiful in the twilight her mouth fell agape as she admired the natural beauty. Soft humming sounds drifted in the wind and came to her. Her eyes sparkled wondering who was singing.
