Chapter 356: Play a game
His voice was unsympathetic, "My knee is injured," Abrielle stated the obvious. Cedric squatted down to scrutinise the scrap on her knee.
"It looks fine to me. Continue running." He said; Cedric stood up; his expression was blank, making it hard for her to read his expression. Abrielle glared at him hating how nonchalant he was.
"I can’t continue." She wasn’t being a whiny brat, but her feet were killing her, and her knee was injured. How could she continue running in this condition?
"You were the one who said I should not be soft, soldiers keep on fighting with worse injuries. If you are in a battle and you get injured, will you give up so easily?" His words were sharp and straight to her ego where it hurt her.
She gritted her teeth, trying to balance her body before she started running again. Her injured knee made it more unbearable. ’ Come on, Abrielle, you can do this,’ she cheered herself.
With much difficulty, she continued to run; it was amusing for the person trailing behind him. He has underestimated her.
Nope, he judged her too early. Abrielle was running a few feet away from where she had fallen earlier. She fell down again, tripping on a root that was bulging out of the ground. She whined this time around, tears brimming at the corners of her eyes.
She dared not cry, she heard his footsteps stop by her side. That annoying man. "You can go ahead and laugh at me." she sneered at him.
To her shock, he actually chuckled at her; it was more annoying that his laugh was pleasing to her ears. "I am starting to doubt you were the same person who motivated and made an escape plan from death’s bites. More impressively, you fought and mercilessly burned many opponents."
Abrielle was too surprised that Cedric knew of the feet she achieved. She was even stunned that she couldn’t run a single race when she had fought so bravely during the culling.
"Just let me be. That was different; the sheer will to survive was what was pushing me." She pouted, Cedric was still behind her.
