Chapter 279: Can’t be jealous
Karissa’s heart ached to see Alfonso’s predicament. All she could think was she told him so, but at least she could breathe now. Cedric didn’t brutalize him as she had expected.
He only made a spectacle of Alfonso and made sure Alfonso did not advance to the final stage. Her eyes went back to the octagon where the battle just ended.
Cedric got off his horse pulling off his helmet, his raven hair dazzled under the sunlight. He was wearing a scarf that was covering his nose downward. Leaving only his eyes and upper half exposed.
His gold eyes searched the arena until they found the Von Drakkar booth. "Congratulations on advancing to the finals," one of the officiators gave Cedric his rose. As the prince made his way to the audience.
The prince didn’t verbally respond and only accepted the rose. His eyes found Abrielle as he climbed up. Her gaze was blank and unreadable.
Abrielle was surprised as she watched him; only his eyes were exposed under the scarf, but she could see a scar that ran across his left eye. She remembered she had described Cedric with that scar in the original novel, but he didn’t have any scar on his face in this world. Where did the scar come from? Unknown to her it was an illusion placed by Cedric.
Abrielle’s hands were sweaty and she was getting nervous remembering what happened in the garden last night. Cedric got to the Von Drakkar booth and stopped a row before Abrielle then broke eye contact with her.
His gold eyes shifted towards Eleanor’s direction, more like Callista’s. Cedric turned, walking towards Callista, all this while Abrielle’s eyes followed him. This was hilarious. She felt like laughing. He was angry and acting petty.
Under Abrielle’s gaze, he gave Callista a single red rose. Everyone was watching, and Abrielle could already imagine the story.
