Chapter 262: Penalty for disobedience
Not even Abrielle had seen Cedric this vulnerable, only Callista. It was ironic how the voices got louder when he was with Abrielle and were subtle with Callista. Although she could not stop them entirely her presence made them subtle.
He felt her cool energy flowing through his body. The pain was subsiding but the voice kept on screaming. It was telling him he was doing something wrong and his actions would only do him more harm than good.
It wanted him to listen, but how could he obey those words and claims that felt completely wrong and against him? He just couldn’t bring himself to.
"I can’t stop them, Cedric. I don’t understand the cause, it is your subconscious telling you the truth you are ignoring or might be a curse." She explained what she thought. Cedric scoffed. It was definitely a curse.
"I can’t live like this forever." Cedric groaned; he was a man that has been through hell, yet something as simple as voices were breaking him.
"I know it is painful but maybe you should consider listening to... " Callista’s voice was stuck in her throat. The sharp gaze from Cedric with a heavy pressure, one that she had never felt before him, shut her up. It felt like a load was placed on her shoulders.
She cleared her throat, her hands shaking a bit. A loud cheer rang through the walls. Lucian’s match was already over. Callista knew he would give his rose to his sister again just like the past few days.
"Maybe we can talk about what the voices tell you. There might be a clue in it." She suggested her voice was warm and caring. It seemed to have true concern for Cedric. Cedric’s head fell back. He could not ever open his mouth to say what the voices had to say to him. At times, they were whispers. Other times, they were screams.
"I’d rather not talk about it," he answered, his breath getting more stable. The sweat on his forehead glistening on his forehead. The priestess nodded; she withdrew her hand, seeing that Cedric was getting stable.
