Chapter 219: Stuck in between
It was a short kiss, one that left her hungry for more. Her hand was aching from the work she just finished but a faint sense of satisfaction lingered in her mind. Cedric broke the kiss, knowing if he didn’t stop now, he would not be able to soon.
They reluctantly parted; it was funny how Abrielle kept on telling herself she wanted nothing to do with him, yet she hoped he didn’t stop.
"There is no need to be so impatient, we will be stuck with each other for a long time." Cedric teased her, sensing her hesitance as he moved away. His hand held her cheek. She slowly realized what was happening since her brain always lags.
She jolted from his hold, hiding her face from him. What was wrong with her? She was making a mistake and she knew it. "I need to get ready for the day." She blurted, trying to change the topic.

Despite being back from a long journey the previous day Cedric was quite energetic and in an awfully good mood that day.
He had some dealings with the court and from the news he heard. The investigation he was on with Lucian and Callista had resumed after Callista recovered while he was away. It was still ongoing even after the incident during the Queen’s birthday.
An investigation revealed despite the fact that Callista was the least hurt during the attack, investigations suggested she was the true target.
Cedric didn’t care who was the main target. All that mattered was that Abrielle was more than hurt during the attack, and he wasn’t going to stop until he had the culprit’s bones under his feet. Till then, he had another matter he needed to take care of.
