Chapter 137: Letter from family
"But that didn’t happen," Sabrina answered. Cedric’s gaze was focused on her.
"I keep on hearing that it is best to let go when clearly, a lot of times, I am the one that keeps on getting her out of trouble. You know the truth: I need the Nightshade family; either I end up taking up the royal family or become a duke. The succession battle in Darconia is brutal. If she hadn’t gotten married to me just based on how powerful her family is, she would have ended up with another of my brothers. Her fate was to be entangled with the royal family. It’s just unfortunate she chose me."
Cedric explained Sabrina’s gaze flickered with a smile making its way to her face. "That is why it is called fate. It is ever so cruel, and yours is the cruellest Cedric. From birth, you were basically forsaken." Sabrina’s words were vague. Despite his domineering presence she didn’t fumble and said what was on her mind.
"If you can excuse me, I want to check on my niece." She mentioned, then walked away, her footsteps fading the farther she went, and soon only Cedric was left there. He straightened his back, his curiosity tugging him; Cedric walked towards the Small wooden door whose frame was lower than his head.
Bowing his head he entered the room, his gaze softened as soon as it fell on her figure that was lying on the bed. Her presence was stronger now she had been unsealed. Cedric sat by her bed, his slender fingers tucking her ginger strands behind her ears. "I have to leave. Unfortunately, I can’t stay long. Take care." A sharp breath let his lips then he placed a soft kiss on his forehead.

The horse moved slowly towards the castle; Abrielle’s eyes were glued to the window. It was a bit embarrassing. After sneaking out of the castle last night, she ended up being brought back by one of Cedric’s carriage.
She only hoped Cedric was not annoyed by the fact she snuck out. By the time she woke up, she found Evelyn waiting by her side. Evelyn didn’t ask any questions and just led her to the carriage with Zoltana.
The carriage drove into the castle gates and she was led towards her chambers. Cedric was not in but she was certain he already knew. "I will get your bath ready, Your Highness," Evelyn said, her gaze trailing from Abrielle to Zoltana.
