Chapter 97: The vicious lady can never change
The music continued to play smoothly as if nothing had happened, but Abrielle’s palms were sweating with her heart thudding in her ribcage, which didn’t skip Cedric’s attention. She was scared and she should be. Her head was bowed again as she didn’t think she could hold his gaze.
"Why are you stunned or annoyed to dance with your husband after how far we have gone?" His question was laced with sarcasm; she didn’t understand where it was coming from.
Cedric had swapped dance partners with her. She felt his gaze on the back of her head, but she dared not glance back at him. Her face pressed against his chest with his thick sandalwood and vanilla mixed scent. It was heavenly not that she would admit it.
"One minute it’s Alfonso and the next Lucian. I really can’t take my eyes off you for long." His voice, with a husky tone, drawled, making her swallow hard.
Abrielle wanted to ask at first why did he care if she was dancing with his brothers when he had his love interest but those were dangerous uncharted waters she dared not tread on.
It wasn’t her fault she was the villainess and her actions were meant to make him hate her. Okay, some of her actions, except the part she wanted to hate him, which was also the plot’s fault.
"You really have nothing to say," Cedric added. Since she didn’t say anything and was just quiet, it felt like she was reluctant to have him dance with her.
"What do you want me to say exactly?" She asked smoothly, her voice barely a whisper, and despite the loud music, he didn’t miss it. Why would he? Cedric’s eyes trailed over to Callista and Lucian, who was dancing. He had an urge that he should not be dancing with Abrielle but Callista but this was truly absurd.
Even if he admitted, his marriage was not ideal, but why would he dance with a random priestess over his wife? He had a feeling that she might be upset that he danced with Callista but he did it because of her.
"Nothing, my head is in the clouds." He replied, Abrielle finally raised her head to his face but his gaze was away on Callista. "I am sorry that my jealousy took the best of me, and I ruined Callista’s dress while making a fuss." She apologized; it felt like the right thing.
Cedric’s brows furrowed, "What? I don’t understand why you are jealous of her. She is just a priestess, and you are a princess with a far seductive body while she is more on the cute side, I guess." Cedric muttered out his thoughts, his gaze till trailing to Callista.
The music finally ended then both parties bowed to each other before leaving the dance floor. Cedric could not help but wonder why she didn’t ask his reason for dancing with Callista or feel mad in the slightest when he could not stand her smiling carelessly with Lucian.
