The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband

Chapter 80: Obstruction at the town gates

What was the first rule of treating someone who was a threat? Don’t have any form of fondness for that person. Although Cedric broke that rule from the start because he never considered her a threat..

She was a way to pass the time and have fun. Abrielle, on the other hand, always had her guard up; she knew what she was meant to feel, and it was never to like or fall in love with him in any way before she found herself in a trap with no escape.

It was that simple; she knew having a slight fondness for him might mean death. He was bound to fall in love with the female lead the same way the people who lost their lives in Danbury were bound to die. That was fate which she wanted to fight against but her dumb heart didn’t seem to understand.

She was falling for his gentle side, which was never shown in the book. The nice things people around him said which she shouldn’t be doing.

She sneaked a glance at his side profile; his gaze was focused on the fleeting images of the town, and he was equally lost in thoughts.

At the town gates, their carriage slowed down, making Abrielle puzzled about what was the issue.

A knight came to knock on Cedric’s window. "Your Highness, something demands your attention. It is Prince Alfonso." The knight explained. Cedric released a sharp breath; Alfonso was one of his least-liked step-siblings. ’ What does that bastard want now?’ he clicked his tongue.

"I will be back," he informed her, then got off. Abrielle released a long breath after he was gone. She could breathe easily now.

She had another task on hand, which was to get rid of any slight fondness she had for Cedric. That aside, what did Alfonso want? She wondered. She tried looking through her window, trying to figure out what was happening, but all she saw was a horse that surrounded the carriage.
